Timbre Trio is delighted to present Turning Toward the Light: From Disruption to Clarity, an evening of folk-inspired song, storytelling, and reflection featuring Robin Amie Pennington, Tammy Rogers, and Eileen West, accompanied by Greg Hutton on hammered dulcimer.

This thoughtfully curated program traces an emotional journey through uncertainty, memory, longing, resilience, and renewal. Drawing on traditional folk music, contemporary songwriting, poetry, and fresh vocal arrangements, Turning Toward the Light explores how we navigate difficult times while holding on to hope, connection, and community.

The evening begins in a world unsettled. Songs such as Imagine, World Turned Upside Down, and What’s the Matter Here confront social upheaval, fractured ideals, and the personal toll of conflict. As the program unfolds, the focus shifts inward through songs of reflection and private struggle before expanding again into stories of perseverance, renewal, and shared experience.

After intermission, the music becomes quieter and more intimate, exploring themes of love, memory, and human connection. The program ultimately arrives at a place of collective affirmation with How Can I Keep from Singing and Pack Up Your Sorrows, celebrating the enduring power of music to sustain us through uncertain times.

The concert concludes with a reprise of Imagine, inviting the audience to join their voices together in a simple act of hope, a fitting end to an evening devoted to finding light amid complexity.
